Super Bowl News – Odds Movement, Trends and Reactions

Below is a look at the Super Bowl odds movement, trends, and reactions based on how specific NFL news impacted Super Bowl odds throughout the 2021-2022 season. This timeline is in chronological order.

Tom Brady comes out of retirement – Bucs odds soar

It was just a matter of time, wasn’t it? Brady couldn’t stay away, and the Buccaneers return the greatest QB of all time for yet another run at a Super Bowl. After Brady’s message on March 13th, the Bucs re-signed star center Ryan Jensen as well and already have some of the talented roster from last season returning. The Bucs’ odds rose as high as +700 at PointsBet, but settled at +850 on DraftKings, behind only the Bills, Chiefs, and Packers for Super Bowl favorites.

Aaron Rodgers Returns – Packers Odds Rise

The biggest story of the NFL offseason will be where Aaron Rodgers lands for the 2022-2023 season. As of mid-March 2022, the odds reflected Rodgers coming back to Green Bay though as they have risen from +1600 to +1400 to +1000 after opening odds. Should Rodgers elect to play elsewhere, the Packers’ Super Bowl odds would definitely plummet.

On March 8th, Rodgers announced his return to Green Bay, and the Packers’ odds skyrocketed again from +1000 to +750, only behind the Bills and tied with the Chiefs at the time for odds to win the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 57 Opening Odds – Chiefs and Bills favored

After an incredible Super Bowl 56 win by the Los Angeles Rams, the odds for Super Bowl 57 were immediately posted on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Chiefs and Bills are favored at +750, with the defending champion LA Rams at 10/1 to win the whole thing. Some other notable teams and prices are:

  • Cowboys +1400
  • 49ers +1400
  • Bengals +1400
  • Packers +1600
  • Buccaneers +2200
  • Eagles +4000
  • Commanders +5000
